1. Do I need a doctor’s referral for treatment?

No, because Physiotherapist’s are primary healthcare practitioners, you do not need a doctor’s referral.
HOWEVER, if you are seeking treatment related to a workers compensation claim, a motor vehicle accident, where treatment will be done through a third party insurance company, you will need a valid Doctor’s referral. A GP referral is also required for those seeking treatment as holders of a Department of Veteran Affairs pension or under the Enhanced Primary Care Scheme.

2. Does Medicare cover Physiotherapy services?
Medicare does not cover physiotherapy services. However Medicare rebates are available to those who have are eligible for, and have been provided with a Chronic Disease Management Scheme, from their GP. Please note, full, current consultation fees must be paid for all sessions, then our friendly admin staff can submit your Medicare rebate claim on behalf for you, on the spot.

3. Can I use my Private Health Fund Insurance to claim for treatment?
Most private health funds will provide you with some cover for physiotherapy, if you have extras cover and depending on your type and level of cover.

At Physio Essentials, we have the HICAPS facility, which will enable you to claim your health fund rebate on the spot (for most health funds), so you will only have to pay the gap fee. The gap amount varies per person, and this is something that is determined by your health fund. Please contact them directly to enquire about your physiotherapy rebate entitlements.

4. What if I don’t have Private Health Insurance? What payment options do you offer?
At Physio Essentials, we also accept cash, cheque, eftpos and VISA/Mastercard payments. These payment methods can be used to pay for the full fee (for those who do not have private health insurance) or to simply pay the gap difference.

Please note, all services must be paid for on the day of service.

5. Do I need to book an appointment?
To enable Physio Essentials to provide you with high quality care at all times, appointments are required. This ensures that your consultation and treatment time will not be rushed, and that you have the full attention of your treating physiotherapist.

6. I have a workers compensation related injury or a third party Motor Vehicle accident claim. Can I received physiotherapy treatment at Physio Essentials?
Yes, all our Physiotherapists are registered under SIRA NSW and the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA) to provide physiotherapy treatment services under the Workers Compensation Scheme and claims related to motor vehicle accidents.

You will need a GP referral prior to your appointment. You will also need to have your Insurance Company details (including company name and contact details, and you claim number).

Please note, on your first consultation, your physiotherapist is required to obtain approval from the insurance company governing your claim, in order to continue physiotherapy treatment. Your physiotherapist will explain this to you during your first appointment at Physio Essentials.

7. What do I do after I make my appointment with Physio Essentials?
In order to ensure you make the most of your treatment time with Physio Essentials, we ask if you can please arrive at least 5 to 10 minutes prior to your booking time to complete some paperwork.

If you can please also bring with you
– Any paperwork from your doctor/specialist related to this injury/condition
– Any scans (including X-Rays, Ultrasounds, MRI’s, CT scans etc) related to your injury/condition
– All your Work Cover Medical Certificates, referral from your GP and Insurance Company details and claim number (for Work Cover and CTP claims)
– Anything you think is related and will help your physiotherapist regarding your injury/condition

8. What should I wear?
It is best to wear anything that is comfortable for you. We have both private treatment rooms, and curtained areas, as well as gowns that you can borrow, in order to provide you with thorough assessments and treatments in a discrete manner. If you are coming for treatment that involves your lower limbs (hips/knees/ankles), it would be helpful to be in shorts.

9. What happens if I am running late/miss my appointment or need to cancel?
If you are running late, it would be greatly appreciated if you can call ahead and let us know. As we need to keep time for all booked appointments, this may mean that you will have shortened treatment time, or we can provide you with a later time that may be available. This will allow you to slow down and not rush, as well as enable us to provide you with a essential and high quality treatment and time with the physiotherapist.

For non attendance without notice of at least 3 business hours, you will incur a 50% cancellation fee.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please contact us at least 3 business hours prior to your appointment time to rebook at a more suitable time/day for you. This will enable you to avoid the 50% cancellation fee.

10. How do I locate you? And is there parking available?
Physio Essentials is located inside Casula Central (entrance via Hume Hwy at Oporto or Pine Road). Please see the contact us page for map and details.

Once inside the complex, there is plenty of on site (off road) parking.
We are located ground floor, next to Beumont Tiles and across from Pasta Italia.

11. Do you do home visits?
