Van is one of the Principal Physiotherapists and co-owners of Physio Essentials & Pilates Studio.

Van completed her physiotherapy studies at the University of Sydney and has also completed an array of professional development courses in Pilates, Sports and Netball. She holds an extensive range of experience and wide scope in the assessment, diagnosis, management and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

Van’s key interests are in sporting injuries, neck and back pain, headaches, postural related aches and pains and injury prevention strategies.

She has served the local area in the allied health field for over 10 years – and Physio Essentials is a means to be able to do what she loves everyday – help others, help themselves.

Van is heavily involved in netball from the grass roots level, through to a regional level. When she has a spare moment from her invested time in the business, you can find her at a netball court either coaching or as a Physiotherapist. She plays an integral part of the injury prevention and management of our local athletes, and future sporting stars. With daily interaction with these athletes, she understands the impact of injury on play and daily life.

She prides herself on her diligent work and communication with the athlete, their family, schools and sporting support staff to provide the players with essential and high quality care at all times. She strives to ensure safe and fast recovery with all injuries, and also provides players and coaches with tips and programs for injury prevention as well.

Van currently combines physiotherapy, Pilates, exercise rehabilitation and her knowledge and involvement in netball to achieve evidence based, exceptional results and outcomes with her clients.

Kevin is the other Principal Physiotherapist and co-owner of Physio Essentials & Pilates Studio.

He has a keen interest in shoulder related pains and injuries, and the management and rehabilitation of overuse injuries from both daily tasks and sporting-related overuse injuries.

Kevin’s physiotherapy skills revolve around essential and high quality education, specific and general exercise prescription and up to date, research based, manual techniques. Like Van, Kevin’s drive is to find the best clinical practices in order to help others, help themselves.

Furthermore, Kevin is also a qualified Clinical Pilates Reformer Instructor, and integrates motor control re-training for the treatment of low back and other postural related aches and pains.

Kevin holds value to spending quality time with his clients to ensure that they get the best out of their physiotherapy sessions and appointments and focus on a management plan that directs a safe, durable and prompt return to daily life.

Vivian Huynh – Registered Physiotherapist

Vivian joined the Physio Essentials team in 2017 after completing her studies at the University of Sydney.

Her passion for improving the quality of life of others motivated her to pursue a career in physiotherapy. Since starting at Physio Essentials, Vivian has developed a strong interest in utilising Pilates as a tool to manage musculoskeletal problems. She is keen to learn more about Pilates in order to tailor individual programs that achieve patients’ goals.

Samantha Garrido – Registered Physiotherapist

Samantha (Sam) has been a part of the Physio Essentials team since 2015 and is a familiar face around our administration and Pilates team. She commenced working in our environment as an undergraduate student, studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. After many years of hard work and studies, we are proud to see Sam graduate as a fully registered Physiotherapist and join our team full time. Sam will split her time between our Physiotherapy and Pilates departments, as well as out on the sporting field covering one of her loved sports – netball! Sam will commence 2019 as the Physiotherapist for South West Sydney Academy of Sport – Netball program, and for Netball Premier League franchise, GWS Fury. Sam chose a career in Physiotherapy because because she was interested in helping people across the life span manage and prevent injuries and chronic pain. She has developed a passion for human movement and utilising this as a key assessment and treatment tool to address pains, discomforts and musculoskeletal concerns. Sam has an eye for detail, and takes pride in taking time to know her clients and developing a holistic and specific approach to help her clients, achieve their goals. It is without doubt that from her love of sport, Sam has a passion for sporting injuries, particularly in youth and adolescents. She enjoys not only helping them recover from their injuries, but also implementing preventative and biomechanical programs to prevent future injuries and enhance sporting performance.
